Dark Daze by Damon van der Schult and Emma Smith took out the Audience Choice award.
Damon and Emma were participants in the Lens Flair workshop program – they clearly picked up some solid tips along the way!
Rory Rockchild took home the trophy for Best Youth Film with his thrilling stop motion animation Finke Desert Race.
Rory is our youngest ever Lens Flair winner!
And last but not least, the Honourable Mention award went to Day of Reckoning by Christy Schubert and Robbie Hoad.
Starts Friday June 12
Lens Flair is coming earlier this year – plus we’ve made a few extra little tweaks to make the festival even more super wonderful and great!
For those who don’t already know the story, the Lens Flair 24 Hour Film Festival lays down a tantalising challenge to filmmakers; put your skills to the test by shooting, editing and delivering a 5-minute masterpiece in just 24 hours.
The festival is supported by a three-week program of workshops and masterclasses, starting Saturday May 23. The workshop program includes a youth-focused session, three iPad / iDevice sessions co-presented by ABC Open, and two masterclasses for advanced filmmakers.

The crowds gather, brimming with anticipation.
The List of Special Things is released at 9pm – this is a list of props, actions, dialogue or concepts. At least 3 of these special things must be included in your film (or maybe more – be prepared for anything). The meeting place is Kafe Gonzo – North Todd Mall (outside the cinema).
Check out the list from 2014 here.
Back to Kafe Gonzo 24 hours later, masterpiece in hand.
You must be through the doors by 9pm sharp!
On the Big Screen.
The official screening of the top 10 films is for friends, family and film makers alike. A panel of judges on the night will award glorious prizes for Best Film, Best Youth Film, Audience Favourite and more!
We have a new venue for the screening this year – the Alice Springs Youth Centre! There will of course be a bar, fine food & popcorn available. Tickets for the screening will be $15 at the door.
